Modernising the Customs Museum
The permanent exhibition at the Customs Museum in Gandria is being modernised step by step. The two newly refurbished exhibition rooms offer an intriguing and informative view of modern customs methods. In one, an extensive installation takes up the problem of smuggling and displays the means available to customs and border guards to deal with it. The second station features the astonishing array of items hidden in baggage and brought into Switzerland illegally, and informs visitors of the rules in effect. Another exhibition space is devoted to the duties of border guards working on the front lines in a profession that is fraught with more danger than one might think.
