In Search of Fribourg’s Faience Factories (1753-1844)
Plate, faience, glazed, painted, made by François Camélique, Fribourg, around 1770.
The exhibition is the fruit of a research project that began with excavations on the site of a one-time faience factory in Fribourg, and was organised jointly by the research team and Fribourg’s Museum of Art and History.
In addition to showing archaeological finds that provide information about production, the exhibition, with items from the National Museum and loans both domestic and foreign, constitutes the first display of most of the pieces identified as Fribourg faience.
