Protecting objects made of ceramics, glass and porcelain from mechanical damage is the central concern of staff in this area, who also secure and, if need be, reinforce or restore objects, painted surfaces, applications and glazes which have suffered damage. In addition, chemical changes in the basic make-up of the objects in this group as well as in the material composition of their surfaces require specific conservations processes.
